Mortgage Industry Application

License applications for mortgage broker, mortgage banker, commercial mortgage broker, commercial mortgage banker and loan originator must be submitted through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (“NMLS”).

 NMLS

For additional information on loan originators or NMLS, click here.

Existing Company Record on NMLS:  If your company already has a record in the NMLS, then applying for a license in Arizona merely involves logging into NMLS and filing your company's NMLS record (Form MU1) and relevant branch records (Form MU3) with Arizona through NMLS and mailing in the required jurisdiction-specific requirements to AzDFI.  One can not submit any paperwork to AzDFI until information is entered and submitted through the NMLS system and then you should mail/deliver to AzDFI any required paperwork within 5 business days of submission through the NMLS.

New Company on NMLS :  If your company does not currently have a record in the NMLS and is interested in applying for a mortgage broker, mortgage banker, commercial mortgage banker, commercial mortgage broker or loan originator license in Arizona, getting started is easy. You can access the NMLS system to request a user id and password at any time.  The issuing of a user id and password can take up to 72 hours.  We advise you to take advantage of a tutorial on the NMLS to become familiar with using this web-based system.  The NMLS website will walk you through all the steps here: Getting Started on NMLS
Please note that NMLS will support Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or greater and Firefox 2.0 or greater, and all browsers must be JavaScript enabled in order to use the Mortgage Licensing System. NMLS also requires a high-speed Internet connection.
For questions relating to the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System, please contact the NMLS Call Center at (240) 386-4444.
For questions relating to Arizona jurisdiction specific requirements, please call 602-771-2800 and ask for licensing, or send an email to licensing@azdfi.gov.
