Financial Literacy Financial literacy is important to every person. People who learn about financial literacy throughout their lives are more successful managing their consumer credit endeavors and are better able to develop money management habits. Becoming financially literate is a long-term process that, for many people, requires assistance from institutions outside the home. Educational and financial institutions, government entities, and community-based organizations can work together to help consumers make informed choices about their finances. It is everyone’s responsibility to learn the basics of investing and consumer credit, take charge of their money, realize the importance of saving for their family’s future and understand that it is never too late or too early to save and invest. The Arizona Department of Financial Institutions seeks to assist consumers with improving financial literacy.
